Eli Metcalf

Hello, I am Eli. I am a thinker, designer, engineer, strategyzer, and creator across many platforms, mediums and techniques. I work in all sensory realms and try to explore all concepts of imagination from the concrete to absurdly abstract. As the artist and poet Psychic Lobotomy Cosmic Surf Punk, I try to explore all possible techniques of sensory communication. As a visual artist I work with collage, painting, drawing, and printmaking to build out imagery that has a story to tell. Most stories are less directed by context and seek to elaborate on the abstract absurdity that I see in the world around me without trying too hard to make sense of it. I also build objects and environments. Though I don’t see myself as a sculpture I work a lot with art that is three dimensional. I use found or fabricated objects to build vignettes small and large, sculptures, kenetic art, and jewelry.

Sound as art. When I am exploring creative expression with the use of sound I work as the music composer Kool Death. My work as Kool Death is a full spectrum sound experiment drawing on my obsession with playing all instruments I can get my hands on, while exploring all things found or invented for producing sounds, random field recordings, and found samples. I seek to combine all these various sources into compositions that through sound experience transport the listener both emotionally, physically, spiritually into altered realizations about themselves and the lives they live.

As an Set and Decorating artist designing creative in both motion film and the fashion print industry for more than twenty years, Eli brings a strong legacy of knowledge and experience to every project. Best known for creative solutions that solve challenges and executing stratagies that result in an overall improved quality that brings stylish direction to any project big or small.
